Last Wednesday we went, after a long time, to the Mercat de Sineu . The market has been held since the beginning of the fourteenth century and attracts a large number of merchants and visitors. In it you can find footwear, wine, vegetables, fruits, flowers, trees, livestock, agricultural machinery and clothing.
For those who want to visit Sineu from Palma they have it easy to catch the train in Spain Square. The station in Sineu is just 100 meters from the start of the market.
After the stroll between the market stalls, we approach Sa Plaça and enter the Bar Sa Plaça de Sineu to eat a good variat. It is a family bar, located in the town square, next to the church, serving typical food of Mallorca and with affordable prices.
The variat is a set of varied tapas included in the same dish , so that the tastes are mixed together creating a very peculiar dish, but very good. It is also the star dish of the mid-morning meal and at the Sa Plaça Bar you can include up to three different tapas. I chose tripe, ensaladilla and frit, the price per person was about € 10 counting the variant, red wine from the house, coffee and herbal cup. As you can see in the pictures, it looks very good and the truth is that it is very good, with homemade and typical Mallorcan food.
The visit to the Mercat de Sineu is highly recommended to enjoy a typical market of the island, a beautiful town and numerous restaurants and bars with homemade food and quality.
